Episode four of Jim & Pat's Galsgow West End Chat. The second half of my great interview with Ian Smith, of the record label, Last Night From Glasgow (LNFG).
Ian talks about:
- How the LNFG approach has been key to attracting a huge amount of goodwil from members and non-members.
- The development of the LNFG branding and product styling.
- LNFG's relationship with their artists. What they do and don't do and what expectaions are on both sides.
- Hipster economics and the case for releasing both digital singles and Vinyl albums
- How LNFG is organised to facilitate future growth.
- And finally Ian give me an explanation of the LNFG "don't be a dick clause".

In this episode I chat with Ian Smith from the record label, 'Last Night From Glasgow (LNFG)'. The label was set up in 2016 and has had phenomenal success in a very short period of time. Since 2016 LNFG have signed 11 artists, released 11 vinyle recods, 23 digital albums and CD's as well as organising numerous live shows and events.
We had a good long chat so I've split the episode into two parts. In part one we learn about:
* Ian's backgrond growing up in Saltcoats. And his early taste in music.
* How the Scottish Independence vote of 2014 inspired Ian and a group of friends to set up the record label.
* How the label is organised and funded.
* How artists are chosen and the mechanics of running a record label in the modern era.
If you don't want to listen to our chat about Scottish politics I recommend you skip from about 9 minutes to approximately 22 minutes.
Enjoy.

Apart from her work with Starchild Michaela is a talened singer-songwriter. She has released her own CDs and performed at a number of prestigious events including the Cannes Film Festival.
Michaela, very kindly agreed to be my guinea pig for a podcast interview for my website. She was a fascinating subject so I hope you enjoy it, despite a few technical hitches. I'll get better. :)
