Her first book ‘poking seaweed with a stick and running away from the smell’ was launched at Sydney Writers Festival in 2008.
The book received critical acclaim in Australia and the UK.
Ali is now living in Australia where she ia a full time writer. Recently she's been back in Scotland performing at the Edinburgh Fringe and Edinburgh Book Festival. In September she'll be heading over to Ireland with shows in Limerick, Belfast, Dublin & Cork.(Details at aliwhitelock.com)

Pat Byrne Chats to David Robertson, Director of Four Acres Charitable Trust.
The Four Acres Charitable Trust was set up to acquire, restore and convert historic buildings so they could be used for cultural activities and artistic pursuits. Both preserving the buildings and creating employment opportunities.
The trust owns both the Cottiers Theatre and Websters Theatre's in the West End.
Pat has been a long time supporter and promoter of both projects - so she was delighted when David agree to come on to the podcast for a chat.

Karl Geary is an Irish born actor and writer, now living in Glasgow after having spent many years in New York.
His debut novel Montpelier Parade was selected as a Book of the Year in the Irish Times and The Times and SHORTLISTED FOR THE COSTA FIRST NOVEL AWARD 2017
It was described by The Guardian as ‘an auspicious debut’.
Karl is also an accomplished actor and director. His acting roles include Sex and the City, Hysteria – The Def Leppard Story, and Hamlet (2000). And notably he appeared in Madonna's Sex book.
